Box Spring - Box that sits under the mattress for mattress support. Constructed of wood and coil springs on inside. Covered with same material as mattress cover. LVFO recommends a box spring for queen and king size mattresses when 2 people are sleeping on it or one user is over 250 pounds.
Foundation - looks exactly like a box spring but without any springs inside. Covered with same material as mattress cover. LVFO recommends the use of a foundation for all of our twin and full size mattresses and when only 1 person is using a queen or king size.
